Imogen Roderick Duo

‘A very lovely voice indeed’ is how Sarah Ward of Jazz Fm described Imogen on her radio show.

Imogen and her musicians have drawn this kind of acclaim from their audiences and their peers wherever they perform.

Upon hearing the broadcast, Costa Pilavachi, Decca Records’ president, stopped his car and called the radio station to discover the name of the girl with the ‘beautiful, arresting voice’.

When Tony Bennett is in London, he makes sure he catches the band at The Dorchester where they have played for years.

Last time, he made a point of praising their performance saying ‘you guys are really great’.

Roderick too has his share of praise ‘it is extremely rare to find a pianist of this quality, working in a bar where you can hear his considerable talent for free’

Another frequent visitor, Nathalie Cole asked him ‘where have you been hiding?’

Of our three-week stay, one of our most memorable evenings was spent at dinner in the Dorchester Bar (13.06.03) Though the food was excellent and the service was superb, it was the entertainment that was "magical!" Pianist Roderick Hart (at times joined by bassist Dave Green.....) presented an incredible performance that equalled performances I've paid lots of money to see here in the States, and the wonderful ambience the music created that evening provides a memory we will cherish for a long, long time!

I was fortunate enough to stay at the Dorchester for Christmas and what a wonderful place it is. We chose to eat Christmas lunch in the Dorchester Bar because the Grill Room wanted way too much money for the traditional turkey dinner, ok it was five courses but £185 each, its a bit much (I don't even eat turkey or Christmas pudding!) We had an Italian dinner and it was absolutely superb. I have eaten in the bar before then and everything from fish to pasta is lovely, especially the wonderful Kir Immperials. It was also nice to be in the same place as Robbie William, doing lunch with his manager, Adnan Khashoggi with various Arabs and Ken Bates with David Mellor (Urghh!!!)

The food, cocktails and welcome cannot be faulted. The waiters cannot do enough for you, the atmosphere is relaxed and the surrounding ambient. Good choice of pasta and superbly cooked. Prices moderate to reasonably expensive but for the extra touches it is worth it. High class nibbles. The first time I experienced the Dorchester Bar was after afternoon tea (also excellent) when I intended to stay for one drink and stayed 5 hours. I cannot recommend it enough.
